More About the Book and Creators

T is for Tattoo is an untraditional ABC book filled with traditional tattoo designs. This book combines early education with tattoo culture and provides those who already know their ABCs with a beautiful gallery of authentic art to admire and inspire. A unique and memorable gift and tool for those who dabble or are deep into tattoo culture. The book is packed full with authentic and engaging designs that represent each letter of the alphabet. Great for language development, creative inspiration or a fun, family tattoo night. No, we’re not handing out tattoo machines – but each book does come with a set of 26 temporary tattoos. All of which were designed by professional and industry leader Tattooer, Matt Manning. This book is the latest passion project and brainchild of Jesse Taylor, an Art Director and Designer who’s been in the industry for over a decade.

The book is 8x8 with a soft cover and sturdy pages. There is a zip-pouch in the back that holds 26, 2x2 temporary tattoos. The project also includes a print, coloring book and a digital download of the designs (great for tattooers).

Jesse and Matt met in 2019 for a tattoo appointment and after chatting a bit, realized they shared common background and interests. They both come from music scenes and were more than likely in the same venue while Matt was touring back in the day. We’ll call it fate. After a couple more appointments and connecting dots, they became fast friends.

Over the years they’ve collaborated on multiple projects, each fueled by their passion for creativity and community. T is for Tattoo is their opportunity to share that in a broader, more transformational way. Everyone remembers a book from their early childhood - why can’t that be a tattoo book? More than 60% of millennial parents have tattoos, and creating something that could have that kind of impact means a lot. Breaking tattoo stigma and creating defining memories are both things Matt and Jesse can get behind.

“We wanted to create something we could see ourselves or our friends picking up off the shelf”, Jesse said. Being a new uncle he thought it’d be a great way to introduce his nieces to tattoos, despite what his sister says. Matt shared with tattooers in his shop and they showed appreciation for authentic, unique and frankly bad-ass designs. Something they could see themselves tattooing or getting tattooed.

T is for Tattoo has been a labor of love from two dudes who have full time careers. Matt and Jesse are excited to share this with you and hope it brings you joy, memories and maybe a few strange looks. You can follow the story and share yours @tisfortattoo on social channels. Looking forward to seeing how you bring this book to life.
